I found this book very helpful.With the help of my brother who was in town during holidays we secured all the windows and sliding doors.Actually I called my alarm company and added sensors to the two windows down stairs that they were lacking.My alarm is set every night.You can`t be too careful these days!! Thank you Mr. Home security!

Best I've Found

This book is a find! It's the only home security book I've read that first walked me through my house to locate areas of vulnerability and then gave me suggestions for correcting the problems. Since I found several insecure areas, it was a relief that the book gave detailed instructions and diagrams for solutions. Many were easy fixes that I was able to do myself. Beyond that,if you are considering a professional security system, I'd recommend you read this book so that you make the choice best suited to your needs.

About the Author
Phoebe Prosky, MSW, studied under family therapy pioneer Nathan Ackerman, MD, and worked and taught at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy for fifteen years. Moving to Maine, she founded a family therapy training center and clinic which incorporates the spirit of Ackerman's work, embodied in an approach which emphasizes the conscious use of intuition and alternatives to the use of medication in the teaching and practice of family therapy.

David V. Keith, M.D. holds joint appointments as Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics at the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Syracuse. He is also the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Director of Family Therapy. Dr. Keith's special interest is in the impact of relationships on health and illness. It is this interest which guides his teaching, academics, and clinical work in family therapy.

An Alternate look at Pharmland.

Our family went sailing last weekend-I took the book along. It was pure pleasure to sample-I found myself reading passages aloud to the admiral who decided he was wrong to have thrown the family therapist overboard.
On our next sailing trip I will toss over the Prozac and the Zoloft and enjoy my life and my family and feel confident with my ability to plot a course for life and accept the ever changing currents and winds as part of life!Ah, what an adventure!

A solid sequel

A short but good second book in the series The old characters grew as people and new characters were added into the mix to create a powder keg all trapped together within a military bunker inside a mountain. I just started the third book because I wanted to see the final battle with the aliens, and so far it has been fun reading these books!

Ok first and foremost, this is a one to two novel that has been split into three short stories to make a series. It also sickens me that the Author is right. Even if we were attacked by aliens and nearly extinct, some of our fellow humans would rape, kill,and be power hungry instead of coming together and fighting a alien invasion who wants to annihilate the human race.

I liked the first episode pretty well and thus purchased the sequel. Not very good. Seemed like a bit of phone-in. I ended up returning this one. I really enjoyed the Vitalis series and am hoping for more. But this one for now is dead.

but that is not the only reason why I like the book

I had read articles on NPR by the author, which is why I bought the book. An immigrant from India who moved here around the same time the author did- I found myself agreeing with his observations, but that is not the only reason why I like the book. Like all good books, it makes you feel intensely and think deeply. There is a sensitivity to the narration, and a simplicity to the emotion. One feels drawn in to the story, regardless of one''s background and that I think is the true genius of Mr Singh.

Loved the honesty and observation/ understanding of Characters... Aspring middle class Indians dream desperately of going to America and once they are there every moment initially is spent on readjusting and correcting their image of America and Americans..... I have stayed in the US for few years as part of my job in IT companies and could completely relate to Deepak's observations.... Author's ability to find common grounds in social structures in 2 completely different societies is excellent....
