I first bought the book on Audible so I could get through it quicker while in the car and then bought the hard cover too for reference. I could listen and it is an all around wonderfully comprehensive book on being successful and whatever that is for you. I think anyone can get something valuable from this book. I really enjoy the narrator too. It has so many references to other great books and resources. You can't go wrong with this material. GREAT JOB JACK!!!

Timothy A. Philpot is an Assistant Professor in the Basic Engineering Department and a Research Associate for the Instructional Software Development Center at Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, Missouri . MecMovies was a winner of the 2004 NEEDS Premier Award competition as well as a winner of the 2006 MERLOT Classics and MERLOT Editors' Choice Awards for Exemplary Online Learning Resources. He is chair-elect of the Mechanics Division of ASEE.

Good with Mecmovies as it's from the same author

Used this book for my Mechanics of Materials class in college. This book is made from the same guy who created the MecMovies site, which is very helpful for homework and studying for tests ( if you don't know MecMovies, just type the name on Google or any search site, and click on the first link to find many interactive diagrams and exercises to help learn the subject). I recommend you use this book with the MecMovies. It is much more comprehensive and better and the book in the same subject written by Gere and Goodno. The problems are fair for the material covered in the chapters, and there's plenty of example problems and exercises to prepare you for the actual homework problems. Its one of the better textbooks I've studied from.

We had a mechanical engineering student in for the summer from one of the local colleges. I assigned him an analysis and he got through it pretty well. He showed me his references, and this was one of them. I marvel at the graphics that are in modern engineering textbooks. They make visualization of a problem much easier I think. The book is expensive, but I bit the bullet because I wanted to review shear flow. It was worth the money to me.

About the Author
The son of a power company executive, and 2008 International Lineman Hall of Fame inductee, Alan Drew has been climbing poles since he was six years old. With a lifetime dedicated to the power delivery industry, he has become a leading historian in its rich American history. Northwest Lineman College gave Alan the opportunity to explore and write an in-depth chronicle of the American lineman in his upcoming book, The American Lineman: Honoring The Evolution and Importance of One of The Nation's Toughest, Most Admired Professions. , for which he was awarded the Crystal Benchmark Award.

Referred to as the “Harvard” of lineman colleges, Northwest Lineman College is committed to providing the benchmark standard of education in the power delivery industry. Founded in 1993, NLC annually educates more trade professionals in the power delivery industry than any other educational institution in the United States. With campuses in Meridian, Idaho; Oroville, California; and Denton, Texas, Northwest Lineman College educates thousands of trainees each year. Excellent book and very complete. Bought as a gift and the person I gave it to was a lineman and enjoyed it immensely. There is so much information in it and wonderful photos. Will be kept as great history book of the lineman profession.

This book is written in a lean manner. It is simple, common and easy to read. It describes ordinary things and ideas very clearly and with one purpose. This book provides all the roadmap, tools and insight needed to allow plants to achieve excellence. The authors take great pains to address common failures issues. They provide a single source handbook that any plant can understand and use, a source with example metrics and tools, with logic and simple ideas to prevent and overcome the daily issues faced by the team that implements Lean.
This is not a book that deals much about soft issues. It is not a fuzzy warm feeling book about the people side, nor is it a motivational "you can do it" book. It is a frank easy to read book about simple steps and simple ideas that make plants great. It explains the people issues and the fact that unless working teams make the decisions and changes Lean will not happen. It is a long book, more of handbook length, but much easier to read.
Lean Manufacturing: A Plant Floor Guide fills the space between a detailed "How To" text and an overview. It provides coverage of every key issue in moving to Lean Manufacturing, offering rationale, plans and encouragement.
